Reviews
A great depth analysis betqween the Spaniards and the chiefdoms in the early contact period. Hispaniola was the center of much recorded history and all the action was pretty much there. Taino society was complex. In fact, the tainos society was evolving from a cheifdom into a State during the arrival of Columbus. Needless to say, the Spaniards did not understand the taino culture nor the chiefs for that matter which resulted grave consequences from both of them. Samuel Wilson explore all of this and more. Great chapters on Columbus' early voyage and taino cultural responses and reactions. It is concise book and easy to read. Great biblography. I recommended it.
