Second Thoughts: One Hundred Upbeat Messages for Beat-Up Americans
Mort Crim | 1998-02-01 00:00:00 | HCI | 206 | Motivational
Second Thoughts is a collection of 100 essays reflecting celebrated broadcaster Mort Crim's conclusions about life after 35 years of covering world events. His daily radio series, from which he has gathered these writings, cuts through the gloomy clouds created by media fascination with the bad, the bizarre and the ugly.

Second Thoughts is about solutions, triumphs and faith. Its messages are crisp, cogent daily reminders that hope is not only reasonable, but the only rational basis upon which to build a life - or a society. Readers will find security and inspiration within these pages and realize that each one of us makes a difference in the world.

Reviews
I grew up watching Mort Crim on Detroit local news channel 4, and always admired him. To be honest, I had a small crush on him. How could I not, considering how charismatic, articulate and funny he is! Despite his retirement from broadcast news, Crim forged on with a radio show, then published a delightful column called "Second Thoughts" in the Detroit Free Press. This marvelous book is a compilation of the very best of those columns, and it's a must-have for anyone who prefers their wisdom folksy, straightforward - and heartfelt.
