The book , Proficient Motorcycling by David L Hough is extremely well written, very objective, and in my mind, a must read for all that value riding on the "street". He covers so many details that we as riders tend to forget, that need to be thought of every time we ride. He presents his ideas in a way that is not a "typical safety lecture", but in a "you can do with this info as you want" ,,,it's up to you to prioritize what is important, he has assigned the safety practice to the reader /writer.....quite unique.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone that wants to be riding more than "one more time"

I learned about this book from Motorcycle Consumer News 5 years ago and this book will not teach you how to ride but to become a better rider and will keep your head in the ride. I have bought 7 of these books and gave them to new riders and old riders, I tell them to pass the book on when they are finished and that I dont want it back, I have my own copy. Take a Motorcycle safety course and read as much as you can and stay alive to ride another day........and if you ever get the chance to ride in northern arkansas do it.

I have been riding for a few years now; not a serious rider though. I wanted to refresh my knowledge of riding and road conditions. This book covered all of that and more. A worthwhile read, especially if you are new to riding. Easy to understand, and the photos help bring the story all together.
